Just for the Birds

This is an original colored pencil drawing by Carolyn Lehl of Johnson-Bell Arts. It’s done on Fabriano brand Italian acid-free black paper and is based on a photo by the artist taken in August at Deepwood Estate, an intimate English style Flower Garden in Salem, Oregon. According to a Lord & Schyryver Conservatory brochure describing the garden, "The original porcelain berry vine (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata) adorns the fence at its southwest corner. This area was planned as a "moon" garden where pastel colors and evening scented flowers enhance one's experience of the garden at dusk"

It is loosely mounted with small plastic photo corners onto acid-free black foam core board and measures approximately 11.25” x 12” for the image area, and 12.75” x 13.5” in total including the backing. It is wrapped in a clear plastic sleeve to protect it from damage and should be matted and framed eventually.*

*Keep away from heat and direct sunlight as some clouding may occur on the surface due to the high wax content of the pencils used. If this happens, simply remove from frame or wrapper and buff lightly with a soft cloth or facial tissue.
