This original colored pencil drawing by Carolyn Lehl of Johnson-Bell Arts was done on Fabriano brand Italian acid-free black paper.

It is from a photo taken by the artist in July of 2020 of the many immature acorns on an oak tree in Bush Park. It is part of her “Monday Morning Walk in the Park” series and represents the month of July.  It is matted,  framed and ready to hang.

"July begins the white oak fruiting season; the time of acorn production. By now the little nuts are pretty good sizes, yet far from being ripe and ready to fall. The shells are still olive green in color and are somewhat soft. I take the time to look closely and can see that the acorns are clustered together on the ends of the majority of the branches." -excerpt from the show's narrative.
